The Right Reverend Dr. Darrell Critch
Bishop of Mahajanga, Priest-in-Charge
Bishop Darrell was the inaugural rector of the Anglican Church of the Good Samaritan and has led the parish for many years. In 2024 he was made the diocesan bishop of Mahajanga, Madagascar, and he is currently leading the diocese in an era of building and strengthening. He continues to serve as Priest-in-Charge of Good Samaritan and will be returning to St. John’s several times each year.
Darrell studied music and music education at Memorial University of Newfoundland and later completed a master’s degree and a doctorate at Nashotah House (Delafield, Wisconsin). Coming to Anglicanism from another Christian tradition, he was ordained a deacon and priest by Bishop Donald Harvey and served in numerous parishes in Newfoundland and Labrador. He also served as the Territorial Archdeacon for Eastern Canada before beginning his ministry in Mahajanga. Darrell is married to his beloved wife, Sarah, and they are parents to one son.
